Summary
A selection of workshops on advanced statistics for the neurosciences.
Target Students
Compulsory for MSc Brain Imaging students. Optional for 4th year MSci and other PG students at Psychology.

Classes
- One 2-hour workshop each week for 4 weeks
Assessment
- 100% Coursework 1: Analysis of example data set (labelled and unlabelled) and essay question

Educational Aims
To further students' theoretical knowledge and provide practical experience (in both SPSS and Matlab) in advanced statistical tools such as multiple regression, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis and bootstrapping, in the context of neuroscience research.Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes - By the end of the module the student should:
(1) have an in-depth understanding of multiple regression, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis and bootstrapping, in the context of neuroscience research.
(2) Be able to identify relevant questions from a labelled or unlabelled dataset, run the appropriate SPSS or Matlab statistical analysis and discuss the results.
(3) Understand and have practical experience of the advantages and drawbacks of the above techniques.
