Summary

This module will develop students’ skills enabling them to communicate design ideas, concepts and final designs in a clear visual manner. It aims to develop techniques, computer based tools that are essential in their course and professional product design.                

Re-assessment                                                                  

Students who fail this module overall and are required to complete a re-assessment will be re-assessed by coursework. The re-assessment mark for the module will be a combination of the marks from coursework passed first time and the coursework which have been re-assessed.

Students undertaking Product Design and Manufacture.

Educational Aims

Education Aims: To provide students with the practical design communication skills needed for use in professional design practice. To develop a range of techniques in mixed media and software which will allow them to progress in future design projects.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students will be able to: 

LO1- Create engineering drawings to communicate complex technical design matters  and understand how these can be used as a basis for quality control. (AHEP 14, 17)

 

LO2 - Understand and apply advanced CAD modelling techniques in the construction, assembly and creation of complex geometry. (AHEP 3,12)

LO3 - Understand and apply an efficient use of CAD visualisation software to create rendered images from CAD models. (AHEP 12,17)

LO4 - Discuss and apply good file management protocols for the purposes of security and professional practice. (AHEP 10)
