Summary

This module is an assessment-only mechanism for the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice - Small Animal Clinical Practice Designation [CertAVP (SACP)], for which candidates sit a synoptic examination.

There is no teaching content associated with this module. This module provides the examination mechanism for provision of the synoptic examination on behalf of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).  

Target Students

Candidates need to be members of the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) and evidence current MRCVS registration. Proof is required from the candidate that they have successfully completed the following CertAVP (Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice) modules:A-FAVP.1 – Foundations of Advanced Veterinary PracticeB-SAP.1 – Small Animal PracticeThree out of the five options below:C-SACP.1 – Small Animal Clinical Practice – Core MedicineC-SACP.2 – Small Animal Clinical Practice – Core SurgeryC-SACP.3 – Small Animal Clinical Practice – Emergency and Critical CareC-SACP.4 – Small Animal Clinical Practice – DermatologyC-SACP.5 – Small Animal Clinical Practice – OphthalmologyPlus free choice – candidates may choose a B or C module from any discipline from the RCVS accredited modulesORA-FAVP.1 – Foundations of Advanced Veterinary PracticeB-SAP.1 – Small Animal PracticeThree C modules on Small Animal Clinical Subjects* plus a B or C module from any discipline.*For candidates applying to sit this designation, any C modules taken from January 2024 must be from the SACP modules. C modules completed prior to January 2024 can be from any small animal clinical subjects. However, candidates must be aware that the synoptic assessment is based primarily on the SACP modules.
