Educational Aims

The aim of this module is to expand on and consolidate the existing knowledge and skills of the general practitioner, strengthening their approach to emergency and critical care case management. Using the latest evidence based veterinary medicine, candidates will learn techniques to stabilise a range of critically ill patients in a general practice setting, apply and appropriately interpret suitable monitoring techniques and recognise and treat common encountered emergency presentations to a high standard. This will increase the candidate’s confidence to make clinical decisions for critical patients, complex cases and high-pressure situations.
