Summary
Students work under the supervision of a member of staff on a project of their choice related to their subject area. They plan, design, carry out and write up a piece of independent research applying the subject knowledge and research skills they have developed on the programme’s taught modules. Depending on their choice of topic, students may have to deal with difficult material from one or more of the ‘sensitivity categories’ identified by the university.

Educational Aims
The aim of the module is to give students the opportunity to apply the subject knowledge and practice the research skills they have acquired by carrying out independent research on a topic of their own choice, under the supervision of a member of staff, and to communicate the findings from that research appropriately in the form of an extended piece of academic writing.Learning Outcomes
