Summary
This module seeks to develop a critical appreciation of:
a) historical & current perspectives in health psychology
b) the role of the health psychologist and associated professional issues
c) current perspectives in European and international health psychology and an awareness of related disciplines, eg behavioural medicine
d) the impact of sex and gender, social and cross-cultural factors on health and illness

Educational Aims
This module aims to provide students with a broad, critical-knowledge of the history and development of health psychology including current professional issues and the role of collaborative working in inter/multidisciplinary teams. The module also aims to provide an understanding of the impact of sex and gender, social and cross-cultural factors on health and illness.Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to:

Critically discuss key factors that impact on health and illness, such as gender, social and cultural factors.
