Summary
This module teaches contemporary understanding and recent research of the following common neurodevelopmental disorders:
Autism – ADHD – Developmental Coordination Disorder – Intellectual disability – Communication disorders – Specific Learning Disorder – Preterm birth

Classes
- One 2-hour seminar each week for 10 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 10 weeks
Details: Lecture recordings from the UK will be used to deliver lecture content. The seminars will be run by the module convener however to support learning of the topics and also to provide opportunities for in-class discussion and applications of knowledge in local contexts. Further Activity Detail: Workshops support the assessment and are exclusive to students taking this module.
Assessment
- 50% Essay: 2500-word essay
- 50% Critique: 2500-word critique of a journal article

Educational Aims
The module will introduce developmental disorders and illustrate aspects of their diagnosis and etiology at cognitive and biological levels. It will also provide opportunities to reflect on the practical implications for interventions.Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module, students should be able to:
