Registered healthcare professionals, specifically aimed at physiotherapists but would be relevant for any healthcare professional working within this speciality.

Educational Aims

Completion of this course will enable participants to advance their knowledge and expertise in the management and rehabilitation of patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate knowledge of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology in relation to understanding the underpinning theories of pain sciences.

Demonstrate knowledge of how pain effects muscle function and motor learning and rehabilitation principles and how these can be optimised in patients with musculoskeletal pain conditions.

Assessment of relevant exercise and rehabilitation analysis skills and exercise and rehabilitation.

Critically evaluate research/literature and local/national guidelines to develop rehabilitation strategies to optimise clinical practice and guide future service provision.

Demonstrate awareness and understanding of relevant current guidelines for the management of patients with musculoskeletal pain conditions.

Demonstrate effective written and verbal and inter-personal communication strategies by contributing to discussion forums.

Critical and reflective practice in analysing personal, professional and educational learning objectives and evaluating their own professional development and practice.
