Summary

This module examines the preventative health and patient empowerment (including self-care). It explores lean clinical pathways / low carbon healthcare, predictive and responsive healthcare (e.g. war, climate change, pandemics). You will explore potential links to a Quality Improvement project and consider social prescribing.

Target Students

Only available to BSc Physiotherapy and BSc Sport Rehabilitation students in Year 3.

Educational Aims

To evaluate the limitations of current healthcare approaches and consider future-proof, holistic, and sustainable healthcare models that could be embedded within rehabilitation practice.

Appraise and apply core principles of sustainable healthcare model in Physiotherapy or Sport Rehabilitation.

Apply predictive and responsive healthcare in a global context.

Critically evaluate the role of Physiotherapy or Sport Rehabilitation in promoting equitable population health.

Embed an holistic care approach into Physiotherapy or Sport Rehabilitation practice, including the use of social prescribing.
