Summary
This course amalgamates and extends students' understanding of the physiology of pain and its therapeutic management. Methods of assessing and recording pain levels, and the management of people with persistent pain are considered. It is intended that less traditional modalities and methods be introduced during the course.
Target Students
Level 3 Physiotherapy and SportRehabilitation students.There is a limited number of places on this module. Students are reminded that enrolments which are not agreed by the Offering School in advance may be cancelled without notice.

Lecture: 6 weeks/1 session/week; 2 hours Seminar: 6 weeks/1 session/week; 2 hours Workshop: 6 weeks/1 session/week; 2 hours
Assessment
- 100% Presentation: Online presentation of 15 minutes on the topic chosen.

Educational Aims
The course focuses on current thought practice and evidence with regards to the therapeutic management of pain. In large, the course addresses the concerns of people with persistent pain. The course is designed around the IASP curriculum on pain for physical therapy which has been developed to provide excellence and standardisation of teaching across the globe.Learning Outcomes
