Summary
This course considers:
• Normal anatomy and physiology: musculoskeletal and nervous system;
• Mental health assessment, identification and management;
• Common diseases and their clinical presentations;
• How to develop systematic clinical history taking;
• How to conduct a comprehensive physical examination and present the findings;
• The abnormal clinical signs following a comprehensive clinical assessment;
• Epidemiological, demographic, social and political influences on health;
• Health promotion, behavioural change and wellbeing;
• Risk management strategies.

Classes
A combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, clinical skills, and independent learning (up to 200 hours)
Assessment
- 50% Practical 1: Objective Structure Clinical Examination - OSCE.
- 50% Exam: Students are required to undertake an online assessment to test their understanding of anatomy and physiology.

Educational Aims
This course aims to further develop the healthcare professional'sability to take a systematic history, conduct a physical examination and synthesis data to inform clinical decision making, order appropriate interventions, implement care and evaluate performance. Healthcare professionalswill consider assessment, identification and management of people experiencing mental and emotional distress. Health promotion models, therapeutic communication and behavioural change will be explored. This course will deliberate complex care and the epidemiological, demographic, and social influences on health and wellbeing.Learning Outcomes
