Summary
This module enables students to engage with a specialised topic of interest in depth, working with staff members in an area of their expertise.
Target Students
Only available to students enrolled on the MRes in Music (U7P7MUSICR)
Classes
- One 1-hour tutorial each week for 3 weeks
- One 2-hour seminar each week for 3 weeks
Assessment
- 10% Assessment 1: In-class report on coursework project
- 50% Project: A portfolio of audio recordings of at least 30 minutes duration.
- 40% Coursework: A commentary on the portfolio of 2700-3000 words

Educational Aims
To provide an opportunity to work in depth on a topic of particular interest; to enable students to engage critically with the methods appropriate to the specialised subject area through independent research and presentation; to support individual research with a firm foundation in music-technology methods and practices.Learning Outcomes

Intellectual skills: ability to apply knowledge of recent developments in music technology to own practice-based research.
Professional practice skills: awareness of current trends in the music industry relevant to work with music technology.
