Educational Aims
This module sets out to equip students with a range of professional engineering skills, laboratory skills, programming skills together with an appreciation of the role and responsibilities of a Professional Engineer in the wider multidisciplinary engineering context. Students will be given the tools to create and run elementary to advanced programs with MATLAB and to apply the tools to an engineering project from the year long module MM1EDPLearning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, student will:
LO1 : Understand the concepts of computation variables and arrays - AHEP4: M1; EAC: PO1.
LO2 : Demonstrate an appreciation of the fact that computer programmes run instructions in a sequence and that the internal data within a programme can affect that sequence. - AHEP4: M3 EAC: PO5.
LO3 : Construct a program to control a mechanical assembly - AHEP4: M5,M13; EAC:PO3.
LO4 : Conduct and manage the progress of a group project - AHEP4:M16; EAC:PO10.
LO5 : Demonstrate the capability to write a house style engineering laboratory report to a professional standard including appropriate application of data analysis techniques - AHEP4: M18; EAC:PO11.
LO6 : Create and deliver a short technical presentation to a professional standard. - AHEP4: M17; EAC:PO9.
LO7 : Understand the professional responsibilities of Engineers including the fundamental role of sustainability, legal issues, patents, ethics and standards - AHEP4: M8, M10, M11, M12, M14; EAC:PO8.
