Summary
This advanced module will be your final step towards fluency, training you in a more formal, sophisticated register of spoken and written Spanish.
We'll continue to use a wide range of authentic Spanish texts to further deepen your knowledge and confidence at this advanced level. We'll look at how the texts are put together so that you may use these skills within your written and spoken Spanish, taking you to the highest level of proficiency.
Target Students
Available for Spanish level 3 students. Must have completed MLAC2059 OR MLAC2085. Available to Exchange students.

Classes
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 20 weeks
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 20 weeks

Assessment
- 10% Coursework 1: Written assignment. Composition 500-words Autumn semester.
- 10% Coursework 2: Written assignment - grammar/translation (Spr). 10 multiple choice grammar questions and 10 multiple choice translation questions.
- 20% Coursework 3: Moodle assignment. 3-minute oral presentation based on audio-visual material (Spr).
- 20% Oral Exam: 20-minute oral examiniation (Spr)
- 40% Exam 1 (3-hour)

Educational Aims
This module aims to take you to a level commensurate with C1/C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference. As such, you will be able to express, in written and spoken Spanish, attitudes, feelings, opinions and arguments with a near-native degree of fluency, grammatical accuracy, complexity and lexical variation. In terms of comprehension, you will be able to understand both the explicit and implied meaning of written, audio and audio-visual texts, of varying lengths, produced for native Spanish speakers, on a wide range of subjects. In addition to obtaining advanced levels of competence in Spanish comprehension and expression, you will develop to a high-level your ability to translate texts into and out of English.Learning Outcomes
