- One 4-hour-30-minute workshop each week for 4 weeks
Learning in this module is delivered predominantly through tutorials with clinical and academic research supervisors and private study. These are accompanied by a small number of workshops and reflective practice experiences.

Educational Aims
This module provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to conduct and report on a doctoral level research project which makes an original contribution to knowledge in the field of clinical psychology.Trainees write up their research projects using data collected in RAD and submit a research portfolio containing: a portfolio abstract, a journal paper (formatted for a named peer-reviewed journal), a critical appraisal section (wherein trainees demonstrate their reflective scientist-practitioner stance, through applying a structured critical appraisal tool to evaluate their journal paper and underlying study), and an explicit statement of relevance and impact (articulating implications for clinical psychology theory and practice). Supportive materials (e.g., ethics approvals, informed consent documentation, interview transcripts, questionnaires, etc.) are included in appendices as appropriate. Portfolios should be approximately 50,000 words in length.Trainees defend their portfolio at a viva-voce examination conducted by an internal and an external examiner, and subsequently make corrections and/or modifications to their portfolio as required by the examiners. Students use examiner/marker feedback to create a publication-ready Revised Journal Paper, which should provide the second publication resulting from their training experience. The final portfolio also has appendices containing the systematic literature review written up in ROD and the SSRP poster designed as part of RAD.Learning Outcomes
