Educational Aims

The module is designed so that students can attain some of the outcomes specified by the GMC in Outcomes for Graduates (2018) in the areas of Doctor as Scholar and Scientist, Doctors as Practitioner, and Doctor as Professional. These are detailed in the Module Learning Outcomes.During the module ‘Drug Safety’ students will be building on previous learning and acquiring knowledge to extend and deepen their understanding of therapeutics and the concepts which lead to safe and effective prescribing. This will also enable students to appreciate the safety issues surrounding the use of drugs. This will predominantly be within the setting of a series of lectures, but there is also a requirement for substantial private study to consolidate understanding of the material covered in the lectures, and to demonstrate an understanding of the nature and significance of a drug safety through preparation of course work.

Learning Outcomes

The student will be able to meet areas within the GMC outcomes as follows. The full wording is found in Outcomes for Graduates (2018).
