Educational Aims
The module is designed so that students can attain some of the outcomes specified by the GMC in Outcomes for Graduates (2018) in the area of Professional values and behaviours; Professional skills; and Professional knowledge. These are detailed in the Module Learning Outcomes.The main objectives of this exciting new module are to introduce students to some of the fundamental principles of the hearing system, with interactive activities and demos, and then application of this knowledge to solving important clinical problems within ENT and Audiology. Nottingham is proud to be one of the UK’s leadinginterdisciplinary hub for hearing research, with a significant research portfolio spanning both discovery science and translational research. Three lecturesintroduce the fundamentals of hearing science, while the remainder give a comprehensive overview of the contemporary status of hearing healthcare management strategies available in the NHS.The module requirement includes substantial private study and formal assessment will be via a written essay offering students scope to write about a relevant topic of their choosing.Learning Outcomes
