Summary
The module requires a student to complete a placement at an external clinical laboratory carrying out professionally supervised practical training. The industrial training must last for twelve consecutive weeks. Students will be trained in Biochemistry/Chemical Pathology, Histopathology & Cytology, Microbiology, Haematology laboratories or other laboratories related to biomedical sciences in hospital, diagnostic labs, industry and research institutions.The students will need to complete training log sheets and a placement report. In this module, students will have the opportunity to reflect on their development of management skills, their understanding and implementation of health and safety protocols, as well as their exploration of ethical issues related to clinical placement training.
Target Students
BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science level 3 students of the Malaysia Campus.
Classes
- Five 8-hour placements each week for 12 weeks

- 30% Report 1: Daily activity log sheets
- 20% Evaluation 1: Supervisor evaluation
- 50% Report 2: Final report

Educational Aims
The aim of this module is to introduce students to the practical working environment and specific practices in their respective areas of specialisation. The students will be able to gain knowledge, skills and experience in clinical laboratories and train to be competent and ready for future employers.Learning Outcomes
