Summary
This module first introduces and discusses the bioethical framework within which medical law is located before turning to analyse the extent and efficacy of the rights of patients, in the context of treatment provision, confidentiality, data protection and access to healthcare. It looks also at the mechanisms for licensing drugs for use in the UK, and for their availability to NHS patients, the practice of epidemiology and public health medicine, and the legal controls over the spread of infectious disease. Finally, the module considers the treatment rights of children and their parents.
Target Students
Only available to UG Year2 or Final Year students in the School of Law and exchange students hosted by the School of Law.
