Summary

This module considers the law regarding a number of topics relating to maritime casualties and their aftermath, such as limitation of liability, collisions, salvage and oil pollution.

Target Students

Only available to UG Year 2 or Final Year students in the School of Law and exchange students hosted by the School of Law.

Classes

This module is taught through a combination of lectures and tutorials.

Educational Aims

To understand the law relating to a variety of topics in the area of maritime law and the relationship between them.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and understanding: The legal response to certain maritime issues, including knowledge of legal principle and understanding of the relationship between different areas of maritime law.

Intellectual skills: Comprehension of legal texts of different types, logical and precise thinking. 

Transferable skills: The capacity to address complex problems critically, carefully, and objectively. Effective written communication (in the examination).
