Summary
The module is the third stage of the Japanese language programme. Each weekly session will consist of a variety of activities arising from the themes and structures which underpin the course programme. Students will be expected to participate actively, which involves preparation before classes and follow-up work after classes, in order to improve their four skills. Students will be encouraged to use the Self-Access Centre where a wide variety of materials are available to consolidate work.
This module focuses on communicative skills and reading/listening in class. Speech skills will be focused on to improve fluency and pronunciation in formal, informal or practical speech. The course content is comprehensive and students will learn how to express their thoughts and opinions on the subject in depth. Oral and written presentation and debating skills will be emphasised. Listening skills will be practised in conversations in class lessons and at the Self Access Centre or on Moodle, as part of homework. The lessons progress in two ways; one is on the basis of grammatical points raised by the textbook, and the other will be on various topics. Written skills will be practised by writing essays as a part of homework after each topic studied in class. Students will have a high volume of autonomy.
Any resits needed will be assessed via an in-person written exam assessment.
