Summary
This module develops the speaking and productive skills of language learning to enable the students to function effectively at an intermediate level. The module stresses the productive skills, particularly spoken and written ones. Teaching through the medium of the target language is the norm.
A single written assessment will replace all failed assessment components at the reassessment stage.

Target Students
Restricted numbers: Minimum of 8 students per group. Maximum of 21.Please note, your enrolment on this module will be conditional on subsequent attendance at an assessment by the Language Centre, where your appropriate language level will be confirmed. Failure to attend the assessment may result in your enrolment being cancelled. Dates and times of the assessment sessions will be advertised on the Language Centre website.
Classes
- One 2-hour seminar each week for 10 weeks
- One 1-hour practicum each week for 10 weeks
3 hours class contact per week.
Assessment
- 60% In-Class Exam: 1 x in-class 70 min multi-skills exam.
- 40% In-Class Oral Exam: 1 x in-class oral exam, 15 mins group discussion.

Educational Aims
This module follows on from 3A, continuing to develop the speaking and productive skills of language learning to enable the student to produce a competent standard of spoken and written language. Although listening skills are not highlighted in this module, they are part of the language learning process as students use them to acquire vocabulary and structures to enhance productive oral skills. This semester, attention will focus on the written language.Learning Outcomes
