Summary

This module assumes previous knowledge of the language at approximately GCSE standard - it is, however, recognised that the GCSE or equivalent qualification may have been taken several years ago and the courses are designed to revise and develop basic structures. The four skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing are expanded to enable participation in discussions with reasonable fluency and accuracy.

A single multiskilled assessment will replace all failed assessment components at the reassessment stage.

For further information on choosing the correct language level, please visit the Language Centre Information Hub: https://moodle.nottingham.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=127225

Target Students

This module is open to all students provided their home department approves. Priority will be given to students on the BA in International Communication Studies. There is a limited number of places on this module. Students are reminded that enrolments which are not agreed by the Offering School in advance may be cancelled without notice. Please note, your enrolment on this module will be conditional on subsequent attendance at an assessment by the Language Centre, where your appropriate language level will be confirmed. Failure to attend the assessment may result in your enrolment being cancelled. Dates and times of the assessment sessions will be advertised on the Language Centre website. Available to JYA/Exchange students. This Module has been identified as being particularly suitable for first year students, including those from other Schools.

Classes

The School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies operates an attendance policy. The details of this policy can be found in the student handbook on Workspace and in module handbooks.

Educational Aims
