Summary

This module develops the speaking and comprehension skills obtained in stage 2a. There is emphasis on extracting and processing authentic language and instruction in the target language is increasingly used.

A single multiskilled assessment will replace all failed assessment components at the reassessment stage.

Target Students

Restricted numbers: Minimum of 8 students per group. Maximum of 21.There is a limited number of places on this module. Students are reminded that enrolments which are not agreed by the Offering School in advance may be cancelled without notice.Please note, your enrolment on this module will be conditional on subsequent attendance at an assessment by the Language Centre, where your appropriate language level will be confirmed. Failure to attend the assessment may result in your enrolment being cancelled. Dates and times of the assessment sessions will be advertised on the Language Centre website.

Classes

3 hours of class contact per week. Classes are conducted in the target language, and focus on topics which have general relevance.

Educational Aims

This module develops the student's speaking and comprehension to enable participation in more complex discussions with reasonable fluency and clarity. The work is centred around several major topics, which are presented either through the coursebook or through photocopied items. Grammatical structures of the language are practised with examples and authentic materials. The Target Language is used as much as possible in class.
