Summary
This module assumes no prior knowledge of the language. The basic structure of the language is introduced through topics relating to giving and requesting personal information. The student is taught to speak, read, write and understand materials in the target language relating to everyday situations. A single multiskilled assessment will replace all failed assessment components at the reassessment stage.

This module is open to all students provided their home department approves. Priority will be given to students on the BA in International Communication Studies.There is a limited number of places on this module. Assessment
- 60% In-class exam: 1 x in-class 45 mins multi skilled exam
- 40% In-class oral exam: 1 x in-class multi skilled oral exam. 8-10 mins group discussion

Educational Aims
The module introduces the basic structure of the language through topics related to social and everyday life in the countries where the target language is spoken. Students will acquire the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing together with basic grammatical structures which will enable them to manipulate the language.Learning Outcomes
