Summary
This module will develop clinical assessment skills and knowledge to provide advanced care in Primary Care practice. Clinical skills will be supported and discussed in relation to anatomy, physiology, health models, guidelines, evidence base and clinical decision-making frameworks. Clinical decision making will focus on a systems-based approach to patient assessment and identification and clinical decision making around ‘red flags’ in triage and planning management

Educational Aims
This module aims to equip students with the skills, knowledge and clinical reasoning to undertake a systematic clinical assessment for a patient in primary care and plan and justify an appropriate management plan.Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate a detailed understanding of anatomy, pathophysiology and its application in relation to the body systems.
Critically evaluate a clinical history for a patient presenting in primary care, discuss and communicate the findings, using a systems-based approach.
Develop, clinically justify and plan a comprehensive physical examination for a patient presenting in primary care.
Demonstrate how you would critically evaluate the factors that impact on clinical decision making.
Demonstrate knowledge and responsibility to show how clinical practice adheres to relevant legislation, professional and ethical standards in a clinical assessment.
Demonstrate how you would communicate findings to the patient and primary care team from the clinical assessment and explain and justify decisions using relevant communication strategies.
