Summary
The pod explores the influence of context, new multi-media technologies and globalisation on communication in commercial domains and organisational environments. Students will examine authentic professional communication data using appropriate linguistic approaches and frameworks to examine such topics as: how global brands present themselves to audiences across a range of professional genres, the emergence of global and local identities, the influence of digital technology on communication in professional domains, intercultural professional communication, and the topic of multilingualism and language policy in the professional sphere.
