Summary
In this pod students will consider how theatre and performance engage with concepts of place, space and spatiality. In doing so, students will draw on theoretical, practical and personal paradigms to understand how notions of place, space and site are represented, read, received and practiced within the context of theatre and performance. Beginning with definitions of place, space and performance students will then move onto applying these frameworks to the fictive world contained in the play text. From here students will explore how the architecture and specificity of site affect the reception of performance before considering the key elements and factors that distinguish the social and cultural characteristics of place and space in an age of globalism.
