Summary
This pod provides students with the foundations of understanding in Old Norse, famously the language spoken by the Vikings. It explores the principles of Old Norse grammar, and allows students to develop a sound functional understanding of nouns, pronouns and adjectives, using examples from real Old Norse texts. Students will acquire skills in reading and translating medieval languages and a critical awareness of the cultural and chronological contexts required for work on Old Norse language and literature.
