Summary
The aim of this pod is to discuss key issues related to learning and teaching vocabulary in a second language (L2), with a particular focus on how research findings inform language pedagogy, materials development and English Language Teaching (ELT) methodology more broadly. The pod addresses topics such as incidental and intentional vocabulary learning, the role of vocabulary in syllabus design and language curriculum, and different ways of testing lexical knowledge in different learning contexts and by means of different tools. By completing, students will learn how the field’s current understanding of L2 vocabulary learning and use can inform principled vocabulary teaching and language instruction more broadly.
