Summary
This pod introduces the study of corpus stylistics, a particular application of corpus linguistics which focuses on issues of style, especially in literature. Students will examine the main principles that underlie corpus design and compilation, and critically reflect on these principles in relation to corpus-stylistic practice. They will investigate the theoretical and methodological underpinnings of corpus-stylistic analysis, learn how to handle and process data using appropriate corpus tools and software, and consider the implications of corpus linguistics for literary-linguistic and literary-critical research.
