Summary

The module examines and develops the theory, professional understanding and practice of classroom teaching in primary schools. It develops professional knowledge, understanding, skills and values and engagement with recent theoretical and pedagogic developments.

Target Students

Available for students studying on the PGCE (primary route) in the School of Education.

Classes

Delivered through a combination of lectures, distance learning and interactive seminars.

Educational Aims

The module provides an opportunity for participants to: develop a critical understanding of the literature and theory of education consider recent developments and issues in teaching and learning develop professional skills, knowledge and understanding for teaching find intellectual challenge and stimulation reflect on personal and professional goals and targets improve the quality of teaching and of student learning.
