Summary
To introduce the context, terminology and essential techniques of accounting. This will include:
• Considering the uses of accounting both internally to the business and externally;
• Financial statement analysis;
• The raising of finance;
• Cost accumulation;
• Information for decision making; and
• Managerial accounting for planning, control and performance measurement
Target Students
Only students registered on the MSc Civil Engineering with Management degree and MSc Exchange students.
Classes
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 4 weeks
- One 1-hour-30-minute lecture each week for 11 weeks
Assessment
- 100% EXAM 1 (2-hour): One out of two questions from section A (40%), one out of two questions from section B (40%) and one out of two questions from Section C (20%).

Educational Aims
To provide students with an appreciation of the roles and techniques of financial and management accounting in the context of business analysis and management.Learning Outcomes
