Summary
This module explores key contemporary issues in organisational behaviour and the management of people in diverse and dynamic contexts. The topics covered will include employee motivation, leadership and working in teams, power & politics, conflict, change, culture, inclusion and contemporary challenges for an emerging industrial age.
Target Students
Only available for students on one of the Executive MBA variants OR MBA Executive Senior Leadership students
Classes
- One 4-hour lecture
- One 7-hour lecture
32 hours contact time over a one week intensive block plus 15 hours pre-course reading and 53 hours of independent study time
Assessment
- 80% Coursework: Individual work-based project (3,000 words)
- 20% Presentation: Group Presentation (20 mins with 5 mins Q and A). Reassessment will be 100% coursework (essay or assignment)

Educational Aims
Managing people is a course that draws principally on the field of Organizational Behaviour (OB). OB is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structures have on behaviour within organizations for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization's capability and effectiveness.Learning Outcomes

This module develops a knowledge and understanding of:
• Leadership and management of people within organisations - leadership, organisational behaviour and motivation
• Know and understand ethics, implicit values and values based leadership
• Know and understand the external international environment, social, technological and policy implications for organisations
• Know and understand organisational/team dynamics
• Know and understand approaches to strategic workforce planning including talent management, learning organisations, workforce design, succession planning, diversity and inclusion
• Know and understand the use of diplomacy and politics with diverse groups and stakeholders both internal and external to effectively manage conflict
