Summary
This module concentrates on the major investment and financing decisions made by managers within a firm.
Target Students
Only available to Part I students on the Bachelor of Science with Honours Accountancy programme.
Classes
- One 1-hour tutorial each week for 2 weeks
- Two 1-hour-30-minute lectures each week for 11 weeks
Assessment
- 30% Group Presentation: 15 minutes
- 70% Exam (2-hour): In-person Exam

Educational Aims
The idea that managers should operate in the interests of shareholders is examined and its consequences explored. The course looks at what should happen in practice, but also what does happen. Where theory and practice apparently diverge possible reasons are explored.Learning Outcomes

• The sources, uses and management of finance.
• The use of accounting and other information systems for managing financial risk.

• The use of risk management techniques and business continuity planning to help maximise achievement of strategic objectives.
