This module concentrates on the major investment and financing decisions made by managers within a firm.
Re-assessment format is decided by the school.
Target Students
Any students that have the necessary pre-requisite knowledge as stated above.Compulsory for FAM major, optional for IBE IBM students.
Classes
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 5 weeks
- One 1-hour lecture
- One 3-hour lecture each week for 10 weeks
Assessment
- 100% Exam (3-hour): One three hour examination (100%)

Educational Aims
The idea that managers should operate in the interests of shareholders is examined and its consequences explored. The course looks at what should happen in practice, but also what does happen. Where theory and practice apparently diverge possible reasons are explored.Learning Outcomes

• The use of accounting and other information systems for managing financial risk.

• The use of risk management techniques and business continuity planning to help maximise achievement of strategic objectives.
