Summary
• Supply chain fundamentals
• An introduction to supply chain planning processes and the need for them
• Planning processes and methods including: forecasting, aggregate planning, MRP, Capacity Management, Theory of
constraints (TOC), JIT (kanban), inventory management, IS/IT support for planning , ERP systems
• Planning through the supply chain - examining the challenges in different contexts.
Target Students
Available to Part 1 and Part 2 undergraduate students. Also available to Exchangestudents
Classes
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 4 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 11 weeks
Assessment
- 100% Exam (2-hour): In person exam.

Educational Aims
To build on the Introductory first year module (Managing Operations in the Digital Enterprise) by covering a series of key topics within Operations and Supply Chain Management in a more in-depth and critical fashion.Learning Outcomes

- The dynamic and changing nature of business and the consideration of the future of organisations within the global business environment, including the management of risk
- The management of resources
- The management of the supply chain
- The use of information systems for planning, control and decision making.
- Forecasting and planning approaches, models and techniques for supply chain and operations management.

This module develops:
- The ability to analyse and evaluate a range of business data, sources of information and appropriate methodologies, which includes the need for strong digital literacy, and to use that research for evidence-based decision-making.

- Appreciation and application of techniques for forecasting, planning and control of supply chain and operations management.
