Summary
This module considers the impact of business upon the environment and society. It will evaluate governance approaches that support the organisation to become both responsible and sustainable.
Target Students
Qualifying Year students in the following degree programmes: BSc Industrial Economics, BSc Industrial Economics with Insurance, BSc Management, BSc Management with Placement Year, BSc International Management, BA Hons Geography with Business and BA Hons Modern Languages with Business students. Also available to Exchange students.
Classes
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 10 weeks
This module is taught through lectures.
Assessment
- 100% Exam (1-hour-30-minute): Moodle remote exam.

Educational Aims
The purpose of this module is to develop an understanding of the complex external contexts (i.e., Environment and Society) in which organisations operate, and how organisations can act responsibly to ensure sustainability and balance in its operations. This module serves as a critical foundation to the technical practices of management and business which will be covered in later modules. It supports the University's aim to develop responsible students.Learning Outcomes
