Summary
Students complete this module either in the Autumn or Spring semester depending on when they are allocated to their final practice placement. Students usually are not permitted to undertake the assessment component of this module until they have successfully completed their final placement.
Usually, students return to university for a period of consolidation of their campus based and placement-based learning prior to assessment. The assessment is synoptic in nature. Students are required to demonstrate that they can meet the current expectations set out by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with respect to knowledge and abilities at the point of registration. Two documents produced by the HCPC are of particular relevance to students in understanding the expectations that the HCPC will have of them and which will be assessed in this module. These are the ‘Standards of proficiency for dietitians’ and ‘Standards of conduct, performance and ethics’. Students will be expected to demonstrate application of the current Model and Process for Nutrition and Dietetic Practice as published by the British Dietetic Association.
