Summary
This module introduces students to the diverse roles and professional responsibilities of a dietitian. Students develop knowledge and skills to help prepare them for A-placement. Topics include professional standards, nutritional assessment/analysis, communication skills, data security, the role of the multi-disciplinary team and person-centred care and peer assisted learning (PAL) activities further contribute to student learning and skills development.

MNutr Students only.
Assessment
- 100% Coursework 1: 1. Critically assess information in the public domain, against healthy eating guidelines (500).2. Create an educational resource based on the adapted, evidence-based version of the above.

Educational Aims
To introduce students to the diverse roles and professional responsibilities of a dietitian across a range of settings and to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to develop evidence-based and professional practice in preparation for A placement.Learning Outcomes
1. Undertake interprofessional education (IPE) and peer assisted learning (PAL) activities to learn and work collaboratively with peers
2. Explain the concepts of reflection, self evaluation and identify individual learning styles
3. Identify different forms of communication and the key characteristics for effective communication.
4. Describe the key roles and responsibilities of a registered dietitian, including
their role and responsibilities within a multidisciplinary team
5. Identify and demonstrate an understanding of the professional behaviours expected of a student dietitian.
6. Undertake statutory and mandatory training (SMT) and other related activities in preparation for practice placement A.
