Summary

This year-long module provides a basic introduction to electrical and electronic devices in an Aerospace Engineering context. It will also introduce essential computation and programming skills to enable students to solving engineering problems

Target Students

Students must be on one of the Aerospace Engineering courses H402, H40A, H400, H40B. Not available to any other students including exchange students.

Educational Aims

The aim of this module is to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of electrical circuits, electronic components, digital logics and essential computational programming skills for engineering problem solving

Learning Outcomes

LO1 - Demonstrate knowledge of the use of basic electric and electronic devices and circuits. (AHEP 1)
LO2 - Evaluate the operation and performance of relevant electrical and electronic circuits. (AHEP 2)
LO3 -Understand the concepts of computation including: the use of variables, storage in memory, data types and precision, and their linking with program flow and instruction sequence. (AHEP 1) 
LO4 - Demonstrate knowledge of programming workflow and development with version control. (AHEP 13)
LO5 - Apply a programming language to write programs for solving engineering problems, with knowledge of methods for data analysis and security.  (AHEP 2,10)
