Summary
An introduction to the scale, scope and remit of a case study submission required to complete the associated Professional Practice (EPA) module. Although not teaching, the module provides support for submissions in the corresponding assessment block and includes:
- Guidance on suitability of a range of building projects with a focus on the student’s own experience;
- Suggested structure of case study, and
- Recommended content/scope…
…that help students demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of professional skills, behaviours and awareness of activities in the context of the Professional Criteria as set out by ARB.
This module runs alongside the start of the assessment block ‘Professional Practice (End Point Assessment)’.
Target Students
Existing part 2 apprentices looking to complete the EPA component of the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) ProfessionalPractice in Architecture (Part 3)
Classes
- One 30-minute tutorial each week for 2 weeks
- One 2-hour-30-minute lecture

Educational Aims
To provide support to students for their submissions in Professional Practice (EPA) module of which the case studyforms a key component.Learning Outcomes
To ensure students understand the requirements of the case study component of the EPA and how they can demonstrate that they meet the KSBs and Professional Criteria.
To understand how the case study can be structured around one or two projects which demonstrate experience and understanding of the RIBA Work Stages, and put that experience into the context of the KSBs and Professional Criteria.
To discuss via 1:1 tutorials individual student’s case study projects and advise on their personal situation in relation to the KSBs and Professional Criteria.
